Sgt. Felipe Pereira, an infantryman with Co. A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), found himself and his platoon in the worst of conditions just before returning to base at the end of a foot patrol in Kandahar Afghanistan, Nov. 1, 2010. He never quit fighting and never left a man behind. This is his story.
