U.S. Army Spc. Michael Stone, a Paratrooper assigned to B Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, competes in the annual Fort Bragg Combatives Tournament on Fort Bragg, N.C., March 1 through 3, 2018. Stone finished second place in the welterweight class, in spite of suffering a broken foot during the competition. Stone, a native of Orlando, Fla., describes his final combatives competition while serving in the U.S. Army. Staff Sgt. Ramon Vazquez, a New York City native and a Paratrooper assigned to 3rd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division Artillery, 82nd Abn. Div. describes Stone's dedication to continue the tournament in spite of injury.
