Yama Sakura Cyber Defense
5th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment
Dec. 8, 2013 | 2:00
When an international military exercise involving nearly 6,000 combined service members from the U.S. Army and Japan’s Ground Self Defense Force takes place almost entirely in cyberspace, the need to test and develop cyber defense systems becomes a top priority. Army Sergeant Nate Bowen takes us inside to show how they’re preparing for attacks in cyberspace. For the first time in its history, the U.S. Army and Japan’s Ground Self Defense Forces’ annual bilateral exercise Yama Sakura is incorporating cyber defense scenarios into the playbook. Role players acting as opposing forces create these scenarios and then introduce them into the overall exercise. Includes sound bites from Maj. Megan O'Connor, Observer/Controller and Lt. Col. Bob Sims, I Corps Information Assurance Head. Also available in high definition.
