Cultural Experiences Deepen I Corps Soldiers Relationship with Japan
5th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment
Dec. 10, 2013 | 1:02
One benefit of bilateral exercises like Yama Sakura is that soldiers get the chance to experience the cultures of their allies. During Yama Sakura 65, first corps soldiers got the chance to tour some cultural and historic landmarks of Chitose city and Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido.
For first corps soldiers participating in exercise Yama Sakura, the workday can seem very much like any large exercise, regardless of where it’s taking place. A hectic work environment, lots to do, coordinating with your host country counterparts. But many of them have jumped at the opportunity to deepen their experience while in Japan and volunteered to attend cultural tours hosted by Japan’s northern army.
Available in high definition.
