Sharing her story is an outstanding member of the Ghost Brigade formation. Spc. Shillem Ogburn, a human resource specialist with 23rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, joined the Army with a great deal of experience under her belt. With two masters, one in human resources and one in business management, Ogburn is a master at her craft and an asset to the Ghost community.

Pursuing higher education taught Ogburn a great deal that serves her today in her career field. From organizational skills to customer service, Ogburn supports her team as much as her team supports her.

“My motivation comes from the support that I have from my team members and family,” Ogburn said. “They’re so positive and I wake up every morning and I actually want to go to work and that just in itself is something amazing.”

Ogburn enjoys her positive work environment within her battalion and is excited about promotion opportunities in the future.

“The advice I would give to Soldiers coming here is: do what you need to do to get the job done and be flexible as well. If you work hard towards your goals, you will be successful here,” Ogburn said.

During her interview, Ogburn shares her experience and advice about her battalion, her background and education, why she joined the Army, her family tradition of serving in the military, her personal values, and Army resources that have helped her in her career.
