Vice Adm. Samuel Paparo, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces, visits with Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 35th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division near Camp Buehring, Kuwait, February 17, 2021. Paparo had the opportunity to fire rounds from a M1A2 Abrams and was shown a static display of equipment 1-35AR utilizes. 2ABCT is deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Spartan Shield to support regional partners and sustain stability in the region.
