Lieutenant General Calvert assumed responsibility as the Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Forces Command, on 3 December 2021. Prior to his arrival to Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg), he served as the Commander, Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, Iraq.

Lieutenant General Calvert’s previous command assignments include: Commander, 2d Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), Texas and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq, 2006-2009; Commander, 2d Armor Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry, 2010-2012; Commander, Operations Group, National Training Center, 2012-2014; Deputy Commanding General (Maneuver), 1st Cavalry Division, 2016-2017; Commanding General, 1st Cavalry Division, 2017-2019.

His staff and special assignments include: Tank and Scout Platoon Leader, K Troop, later Executive Officer, I Troop, 3d Squadron, 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1988-1991; Assistant Regimental S4, later 2d Squadron S4, later E Troop Commander, later Headquarters and Headquarters Troop Commander 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1992-1996; Chief, Armor Branch, Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate, United States Total Army Personnel Command, 1996-1999; Regimental Training Officer, later Operations Officer, 2d Squadron, later Regimental Operations Officer, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. 2000-2002; Regimental Operations Officer, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, 2002-2004; Interagency and Civil Support Planner, Joint Plans Team, Standing Joint Force Headquarters, United States Northern Command, 2004-2006; Deputy Director for Operations, National Joint Operations Intelligence Center, Operations Team-1, J-3, Joint Staff, 2014-2016; Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, United States Army, 2019-2020.

Born in South Carolina, Lieutenant General Calvert commissioned as an armor officer following graduation from North Georgia College in 1988. LTG Calvert’s civilian education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies and a Master’s Degree of Strategic Studies from Air University.
