Kansas City Chiefs Honor Military at Training Camp, Strengthening Partnership with Army Recruiting Battalion

By Richard Beckett Kansas City Recruiting Battalion

Kansas City, MO – August 15, 2024 – The Kansas City Chiefs showed their unwavering support for the military on Thursday, hosting Military Appreciation Day at their training camp on the campus of Missouri Western University. This annual event has become a cornerstone of the Chiefs' community engagement, highlighting their enduring partnership with the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion, Kansas City.

In recent years, the Chiefs have forged a strong bond with the Kansas City Army Recruiting Battalion, demonstrating their commitment to recognizing the service and sacrifices of the U.S. Army. The partnership has been particularly evident during the Chiefs' successful run of championships, and the training camp event underscores this ongoing collaboration.

Despite a scaled-back presence this year, the battalion was still represented at the training camp. A small team of recruiters from Liberty Recruiting Company, led by Captain Caleb Pflug, was on hand to engage with fans and offer information about military service. The decision to reduce the size of the Army's recruiting exhibit was influenced by a recent decline in leads generated from previous camps. Nevertheless, the battalion remains committed to maintaining a strong relationship with the Chiefs and seizing future opportunities to connect with the community.

The partnership between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Army Recruiting Battalion, Kansas City has also extended beyond the training camp. In 2021, battalion recruiters and Future Soldiers participated in a memorable halftime swear-in ceremony during a Chiefs game against the Dallas Cowboys. Additionally, the battalion had a prominent presence at the 2023 NFL Draft held at Union Station in Kansas City, where they conducted another inspiring swear-in ceremony on stage.

Captain Pflug emphasized the importance of these events in building a strong rapport with the community and showcasing the Army's values and opportunities. "While we may have scaled back our exhibit this year, our commitment to partnering with the Chiefs remains as strong as ever," said Pflug. "These events are a valuable opportunity to engage with the community and highlight the incredible opportunities that service in the Army provides."

As the Chiefs continue to celebrate their success on the field and the Army Recruiting Battalion Kansas City remains dedicated to its mission, the partnership between the two organizations promises to be a lasting and impactful collaboration, benefitting both the military and the Kansas City community.
