to the groove. The Brass Brigade
is an innovative ensemble that
pushes performance styles with a
broad repertoire of music from
traditional Dixie to funk and
rap and even a little soul.
This ensemble is capable of
performing in many different
venues, from high school and
college auditoriums, to state
and local fairs, from NASCAR
pre-race shows to festivals of
all sorts.
Energetic and high spirited, the Brass
Brigade represents American
Combat Soldiers while it
supports community activities
across the nation.
The Concert Band
maintains a large and varied repertoire that includes all facets
of traditional and contemporary wind literature, as well as
orchestral transcriptions, marches, instrumental and vocal
solos, popular tunes and patriotic music.
The band has
traveled throughout the United States, performing in such
notable halls as Severance Hall, Spivey Hall, and the Woodruff
Arts Center. Publicly recognized for its musical excellence, the
band has twice been awarded the internationally acclaimed
Col. George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence for
Military Concert Bands. The musicians of
the Concert Band are among the best in the Army Band Program,
with many having studied music at some of the finest
universities and conservatories, both in the United States and
abroad. The band's members frequently share their talents with
music students of all ages through The Army Ground Forces Band's
education outreach program.
The Ceremonial Band
performs in parades and
ceremonies at many distinctive
events throughout the year.
Some of the most
notable annual performances for
the Ceremonial Band include
Independence Day, Veterans Day
and St. Patrick’s Day parades,
as well as a wide array of
military ceremonies. Whether marching on
historic parade grounds or the
main streets of cities across
America, the Ceremonial Band
adds dignity and instills a
sense of patriotic pride in both
civilian and military events,
performing for more than one

The Jazz Guardians is an 11-Soldier group whose mission is to promote Jazz, a uniquely American art form. They pay tribute to the big bands of yesterday, performing popular music by such greats as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Woody Herman. Showcasing its versatility, the group also performs the latest and most innovative sounds of today's popular composers. The Jazz Guardians has been featured at jazz festivals across the U.S., performing with Louis Bellson, Cab Calloway, Bill Watrous, Conrad Herwig and Jamey Abersold. With its broad talents and diverse repertoire, these musicians are sure to entertain any audience.
The Dixie Band
is a six- to seven-piece ensemble that pays homage to
traditional Jazz also known as Dixieland or simply Dixie.
Dixieland, an early style of Jazz that originated in New
Orleans, is the earliest style of Jazz music. The group’s
accomplished Soldier-musicians build on the music of pioneers
like Louis Armstrong, Kid Ory, Joe “King” Oliver, the Dukes of
Dixieland and other greats of traditional Jazz fame.
The Dixie Band
enjoys performing regularly for veterans and senior functions.
Plus, it frequently adds a delightful, lively dash to the
performances of The Army Ground Forces Band’s other ensembles.
The Quintessential Winds
is a five-member performing ensemble. Although configured as a
classical woodwind quintet (i.e., flute, oboe, clarinet, horn
and bassoon), it has been known to add a vocalist and
percussionist to allow the performance of a broad range of
contemporary and popular music as well.
Its members bring a touch of class to any occasion and make each performance a unique and memorable experience. The Quintessential Winds has performed for a wide variety of military and civilian events all over the country. It specializes in crafting clinics and master classes for high school and college music students, bringing years of experience and musical knowledge to young musicians. This mission has taken the Quintessential Winds to venues throughout the America including the University of Illinois Champagne-Urbana, Illinois State, University of Kansas, University
of Missouri-Kansas City, and the University of Florida.
The Loose Cannons, the rock band of The Army
Ground Forces Band, is comprised of a select group of
outstanding musicians. The group comes prepared with a
repertoire of music ranging from Lynard Skynard, Foo Fighters,
Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Bon Jovi. This high-energy band has
everything needed to ignite a party and keep the flames burning
for hours.
Having performed throughout the United States and abroad,
including entertaining deployed troops in the Operation Iraqi
Freedom Theatre and opening for Lee Greenwood at Stone Mountain
Park, these world travelers have acquired a diverse and
impressive collection of both yesterday's classic rock and
today's top hits.
With its innovative style and boundless energy, The Loose
Cannons commands the stage and guarantees that any event is a
hit!
The Brass Quintet
is a dynamic and versatile group. The quintet performs at
functions ranging from official ceremonies to full shows at the
collegiate and local community level.
This group is comprised of two trumpets, a horn, a trombone and
a tuba.
The quintet also does many children’s outreach concerts
throughout the Southeast.
The Brass Ensemble
presents a diverse repertoire, ranging from music of the
Renaissance period to the modern styles of today.
It provides musical support for formal and social
occasions and presents concerts and clinics to audiences
nationwide.
The group has been featured as a guest ensemble at many
universities, including Ohio State University, Bowling Green
State University and the University of Georgia. It has
also appeared on the CBS affiliate WGCL-TV’s “Good
Morning, Atlanta.”
The
Jazz Combo is a multi-talented,
small
ensemble that can perform in a variety of venues,
including school clinics for students of all ages,
high-visibility military functions, state and local jazz
festivals, as well as national tours to promote Jazz and to
recruit many of the finest young musicians today.
The Jazz Combo performs a diverse repertoire, including works
ranging from Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck to Stevie Wonder and
The Beatles. This group consistently gives excellent
performances, whatever the occasion, maintaining the proud Jazz
traditions within the Army Ground Forces Band.
